The right amount of mortar- all about chemical fixings11. April 2018
Our expert Stefan Huber is a trainer at the fischer Academy and a master carpenter. He has decades of experience in construction and can therefore provide practical tips and tricks for craftsmen. In the video he gives interesting information about chemical fixings. How do I find the required mortar quantity for my application? Do chemical fixings have got a best-before date? What about information on drill hole cleaning?
The required mortar quantity for my application
You can find this in the installation instructions or in our catalogue. Here you will find a table, where you can always find the mortar quantity for the appropriate anchor stud at the appropriate anchoring depth. But it will only show the minimum and maximum value. Probably, you don’t have a catalogue or the assembly instructions with you on the building site. What you most likely will have on you is your smartphone or tablet. fischer has launched an app for you “Mortar-Fix”. Here, you will find a form where you can enter your application, your product,…Within one click you will receive the right answer for your application.
Information on drill hole cleaning
Drill hole cleaning is the only way for fixings to provide a secure hold and fulfil their supporting roles. Have a look at the installation instructions. They are included in every box. Furthermore, you can download our Fixperience software, where you will find current approvals and drill hole cleaning in the planning folder. Or you can place the cartridge on its side. Here, it says how to carry out drill hole cleaning.
If none of these options are available to you, you can enter our product into the search bar at fischer.co.uk. This will take you to the instruction sheet and the current drill hole cleaning for the individual product.
Does a chemical fixing have a best-before date?
Yes, it does. If you turn the cartridge upside down, you will see it underneath. Within this best-by date fischer can guarantee loads that your structural engineer has coordinated with our ETA. If you use the product past its best-before date, we cannot guarantee any loads, and you therefore bear complete responsibility as a craftsman. Why is this the case? Our mortar is made up of multiple components- resin and the curing agent. These two components have a certain storage shelf life, and therefore they also have a best-before date.
